Taxidermy Questions

Q: How long does it take?
A: Heads such as deer, antelope, etc., typically average about 4 months. This is because tanning the skin correctly takes time. Tanning is one of the most important steps in taxidermy. Lifesize mounts are more complex and may take longer. What helps is for you to provide directions on how your trophy is to be mounted when you bring it in. That way when the skin comes back from the tannery the mounting process can begin without delays. Some clients are not in a hurry and if more time is needed to make your decision that’s fine.

Q: What does it cost?
